Protectors of the Upper Chesapeake Bay
From the President

I would like to take this opportunity to thank all who participated in the 2010 June Open House. This was our first early year open house and I have learned a few things. Next year we may have it in the spring, cooler is better. I would like to say Thank You to Howard Ewing and Inez, of the State Fire Marshall's office, Captain Holly Trego of Cecil County DES as well as Katie Norman (MSFA Miss Fire Prevention 1st Runner Up), Ally Gregg (Miss Md. Fire Chiefs Association), Courtney Street (Cecil County Junior Miss Fire Prevention) and our very own, Miss Harford Cecil Megan Bicking for their support and hanging out with us in the heat. Also Thank You to the Cecil County Fireman's association for the use of the Safety House. It worked well and was very well received by the community.

I also would like to thank our firefighters and EMS personnel for all their hard work and dedication to putting on a great day. I think the community enjoyed themselves, and thats what the day was about.

Pictures will be posted in the next few days.

CC Radio Committee Proposed Talk Groups [ 339 KB ]
This is a PROPOSED Talk Group (previously called Ramps) channel line up. This was discussed at great length to come up with a workable group where folks do not have to change ramps often and can use the system. The current safety features (i.e. FD Main at both ends of selector and Side Button FDTA activation) all stayed the same. The breakdown is like this: Station alerted for an AFA. You are assigend Talkgroup A; Channel 6 (A6) Fire Ops. You're alerted for a full box working assignment, you would be assigned TalkGroup A; CHannel 7 (A7) and then you would also have A8 & A9 to use for other assignments (i.e. water supply, Rehab, etc...) without having to change Talk Groups (Ramps). Talk Group B is a mirror but with additional OPS Channels for additional boxes if the county should "break Loose" or have a incident that effects multiple jurisdictions (i.e. storms). Talk Group C is more of a multi Agency Group where we can interact with say Police or other agencies. Talk Group D is the Special Events Group and this is where ALL department events would take place. No longer would you get an OPS channel, you would be assigned a Special Events Channel. Each event could have 4 channels if needed. Major Incident Talk Group remained the same. Conventional Talk Group Remained the same as well. Training was also discussed and decided that a training manual and Power Point CD would be made available as well has the committee being availiable to give the training at each station should that station request it. This is being presented to DES for review. The plan is to have it to the Chiefs at the November Chiefs Meeting.
